J. Crew Review - Western Denim Shirt and Pinwheel Eyelet Pencil Skirt (Petite)

Ah the search for the perfect denim/chambray shirt... I actually think I did find a keeper but still can't help myself from trying other incarnations of this wardrobe staple.

J. Crew Western Denim Shirt (size 2)

First impression? Really thick material! Almost felt like a lightweight jacket. I like that the color is fairly uniform and that the length and fit are very similar to other J Crew shirts. The snaps are fun (reminds me of a shirt I had as a kid) but I don't love the white covers to the snaps. The shirt fits pretty nicely but it did make me feel like I was wearing something heavy - more appropriate for fall perhaps?

No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Pinwheel Eyelet (size P0)
Here is the shirt with my current obsession the Pinwheel Eyelet skirt. It looks pretty cute with it but feels stiff. I like the way the P0 fits - I think this length is more flattering but sometimes I do like the elegance of a slightly longer hemline (see the regular version here). I felt like the regular 00 fit better in the body so I'm actually going to try a P00 and see how that works. Please keep in mind - I am not a 00!!! I'm just finding pencil skirts to run a bit big at J Crew this year.

Thanks to JCrewJD over on the JCrewAficioniada  for suggesting the pairing of hot pink with navy. I LOVE this combo! Really fun!!! What a wonderful suggestion. This is the Silk Boyshirt from Madewell.

30% sale ended last night at J Crew. Did you decide to purchase anything?

    2. Hi sandy, I'm not sure of the color name as I bought it last summer. It is their silk boy shirt in a size extra small which has the loveliest fit! I usually wear a size 2 in tops. I think the current silk boyshirt in pink is a bit lighter in color. Hope that helps!
