J. Crew Review - Jules Dress in Scroll Print and Rosie Dress in Colorblock

I have so many reviews to complete that I'm just going to posting without much ado. Here goes:

Jules Dress in Scroll Print (size 2)

My quest for a Jules that flatters may be forever unfulfilled! There is something charming about the bright yellow and loud but sort of classic Grecian print of this dress. But, why oh why must they put pockets on the sides!!!! I would way rather have NO pockets then big hip pockets. Barf. Most people will see this dress as too short. I don't mind that so much but I do mind lumpy pockets. I think my pictures make it looks better than it did IRL. It's pretty and striking but a bit clingy with the lining and not very practical (for me)

Rosie Dress in Colorblock (size 2)

I feel the opposite way about this dress - the pics make it look like a nightgown but it was quite cute IRL. I was worried that I would hate the little ruffle cuffs but I actually thought they were a nice and needed detail on such a plain dress. The bottom half didn't hang quite right - I don't know if it's static or what - so I wouldn't pony up major dough for this dress. Still, overall it is a nice little laid back silk shift. To be considered on super sale.

What do you think of these dresses?

    1. Forgot to add that if you run a wire hanger (I keep one from the dry cleaners for this purpose) along the dress, the cling will disappear. :)

  2. It does seem like the print of the Jules dress would work better with a heavier weight fabric, like the pencil skirt in the same scroll print. A blouse, on the other hand, would be heavenly!

I like the colourblock trim on the other dress- is it cream, or sort of rosy peach?

  3. I think you look great on both and I appreciate the heads up about wire hangers above! The bulk that the pockets add is only visible to you as I could not even tell there were pockets! Having said that, I am with you Jules - 3 more inches and a little more care with fabric and J Crew would have a huge winner!

  4. I'll have to try the wire hanger tip from turquoise22. You can't see the pockets on the Jules. I don't know why they're there, though. I didn't find them to be functional when I tried the dress on. My hands felt awkwardly placed in them, like the pockets were too low. They need help in the dress dept. Many of the dresses have been very off for a good year+ now.

  5. I like the second dress but see what you mean about the static, it would drive me crazy, the scroll print is great for those with the colouring for it.
