Flowersketch Peplum Top (size small)
So I had read to size up and I'm pretty sure that I'm glad that I did. I think an XS would have been pretty snug and silk is not a fabric you want hugging your body too tightly. First of all, this print is not for everyone. It's like the fabric on my beautiful old chair. In fact, I'm pretty sure my husband will say, "This looks like something I would see on a couch." But, it grows on you. And the peachy/coral color is really nice. The side view picture makes it look like the peplum sticks out but that's just my belt underneath.
What bothers me are the sleeves. The look sort of baggy. So I rolled them to see what I thought. More flattering, no? The peplum is very subtle and the waist falls at a perfect place.
Still I can't decide if this is cute on or if it's a hot mess. Thoughts? Anyone else own this one? How do you style it?
I always wanted to see this blouse in person. It's gorgeous! I like the sleeves rolled up, too. It looks good on you; not a hot mess at all.
ReplyDeleteBanana Republic has a similar print for spring but the long sleeved blouse is 100% poly and the other version of the top is rayon and was not flattering on.
Thank you! I am so over Banana Republic and their gross polyester. So frustrating. Silk just drapes so well and feels so good against the skin!
DeleteOh great catch on sale! Bravo- I'm very jealous! I agree- the sleeves are too long, but look fine rolled up, and would be easy to shorten at some point...
ReplyDeleteI love this print!!
Thanks! Keep your eye on the website - there have been so many popbacks recently! Now if only stupid final sale would go away.
DeleteWhat a pretty, cheerful print for spring and summer! The size and fit looks great on you, and I think the shorter sleeves are more flattering too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, ABC! The print is definitely something special.
DeleteOh baby...how to be nice. Sorry not liking the shirt at all. The sleeves look better shorter but the top is making you look wider than you really are. I have a feeling it's one of those tops you keep trying and trying but never makes it out of the closet. I really hope you prove me wrong cuz I just purchased a jcrew final sale item that will see no wear.
ReplyDeleteYou're hilarious. I know. I'm totally over final sale with J Crew but I've moved onto Madewell temptations. I did, however, sweet talk my way into ordering something final sale with Madewell with the "one time exception" that I could return it if it didn't work out. Which is good because it probably won't.
DeleteThanks so much for this post--and thanks to the commenters--as I have this top and have also been wondering what to do with it. My plan now is to shorten the sleeves and probably just wear it under blazers and cardigans--love the print, love the pink/red color, not sure how flattering the style is on me.
ReplyDeleteI know - I'm debating whether it's flattering or not as well. I think one problem is that the neckline is too high. I find that generally with Madewell clothes - too high necklines, too high waists. I have excellent tailors and might take it to them to see if they could lower the neckline and up the sleeves. I think I'd be a lot happier.
DeleteWhere the heck did you find this? I'm a devoted Madewell shopper, and I've never seen this item. They had this in solid colors not too long ago, but sold out in my size fast.
ReplyDeleteI think it creates a nice silhouette. It doesn't look baggy. Actually maybe just a tad tight.
Ha! I know! It was out last summer I believe. They also had the Flowersketch Matchbook dress I think it was called. I've noticed that since the 40% off sale lots of OLD items have been popping back - much to my pleasure!
