Anthropologie Reviews - Trace the Stars Blouse, Liquid Acres Skirt, Bilberry Dress, Hallowell Cowlneck, Gradated Diamonds Skirt, Tokonoma Tee

A few of my wishlist items popped into sale this week so I ordered some other things I've been wanting to pull the trigger on as well.

Trace the Stars Blouse (size 2 and 0)

I had such high hopes for this blouse. The constellation print is to die for. Love it love it love it. The fabric is also a very nice silk. It's hard to tell in the pictures but the blouse does this weird poufing thing right above the waist. It is really unflattering. I would almost consider sizing up to a 4 to see if I could get it to work but the arms are a little poufy for me as well. Insert major sad face here. Boo.

Tokonoma Tee (size 0) $49.95 (sale)

I've been waiting for this to go on sale forever. Now that I have it, I think I may actually like my Pointilist Pond Blouse better! The colors are so lovely on this one and I like the relaxed fit but it is a REALLY simple blouse. Just two panels of silk pieced together. I'm on the fence now.

Hallowell Cowlneck (size S) $148.00

This was the one item I saw in the catalogue that I thought I had to have. I love cownecks and I love big cozy sweaters. It comes in other colors but I you can't see the detail as much on them. The cowlneck is HUGE. So big, in fact, I don't really know what to do with it. In the middle picture you can see that it is rather wide in front. I wish the hem in front were as long as the back. I do still kind of love it but would not pay full price.

Bilberry Dress (XS) $69.95

Okay, I know, where the heck do you wear a crocheted dress? I surely don't know but I want to find a place. I have no reason to own this dress but again I sort of love it. It is so absolutely different from anything else in my wardrobe. I almost think you could winterize it with tights and a long tee underneath and boots. The self belt is even cute but I think I could use a real belt to add a bit more waist definition.

In real life I thought I like the skirt but seeing this pictures - meh. Many reviewers commented about the fabric not lining up correctly in the back and they are right! I am trying to show that in the 2nd pic. It IS a silk skirt for $40 which is nice and the length is perfect for 5'4'' me. I think I'll pass but it is a nice option for those looking to get a maxi skirt. Lays well despite the elastic waist.

Liquid Acres Skirt (size 2) $59.95

This skirt fits beautifully - as good if not better than La Crew's pencil skirts. It is a heavy weight fabric and the colors could go with a lot. My usual size 2 has to be worn higher on the waist so I would like to try on a size 4. Might be too big in the hips then though. The length is perfect for me. I don't like skirts below my knee since I'm on the short side.

I have a bunch of JC new arrivals and Outlet reviews coming up....

Anyone else grab any coveted items at the most recent Anthro sale?

A Sweet Reward and some Anthropologie Reviews - Interspersed Ponte Dress, Hallowell Cowlneck,

So I don't share much about my personal life on my blog because I really just started it as a place to help other people decide on clothes. I'd been stalking others' blogs for so long to help me decide which items I might want to order, try-on, or chance on final sale that I thought I should really give back and do the same. That being said I wanted to share a little mommy story since I know many bloggers are also moms. Many days of mommydom go by basically thankless. I LOVE being a mom but its rewards feel different than the rewards you may or may not get from going to a job every day. The other day I got my reward :)
My daughter and I love going to the zoo and have a tradition of getting some lemonade while we are there (we never have juice at home). Unfortunately, this has caused the problem of associating the zoo with lemonade and necessitating buying it immediately or the entire trip is ruined in whines for lemonade.
Now that is is October, the lemonade stands are no longer open - a fact that my daughter does not entirely agree with. So after a long and whine-ful morning at the zoo I'm trying to do anything to distract her from the lack of lemonade. We play a little running game where she runs away from me and then runs back and crashes into my legs. We do this over and over. I can't even imagine that it's that much fun for her but we laugh and I enjoy the chance for extra hugs. On the last hug, she looks up at me and says, "I love being with mommy."  Ahhh.... sweet reward.

And now on to some reviews...I apologize for the bad quality of the photos.

Hallowell Cowlneck in Ivory and Navy (size S)

This was an item in the catalogue that I knew I wanted to try on. I love the boucle texture of the wool but I think overall the sweater is much more attractive in the grey color (even though I am becoming a bit burned out on grey because I own a lot of it). The neck takes some fiddling with to get it straight. I was a little disappointed that the front of the sweater was so short. The circumference of the hem is rather large and it is hard to get that to lay well. Overall, I still love it because it is cozy and cute and unusual looking. The little piece of plaid trim at the front is a darling detail.

Interspersed Ponte Dress (XS) in Plum

I thought this might be a nice alternative to the Noon & Night dress. The XS felt slightly snug but the material also felt like it might stretch out a bit so I don't think I would size up. The neckline is super flattering. Made me feel like an aging ballerina - in a good way.

So you can't really see anything in this picture. One is a lovely silk tank top that is on sale for $19.95 and the pants are joe's jeans and they are made of a light weight chambray. OMG. they are awesome and are the perfect lightweight jeans for summer. They were $19.95 down from $148 or something crazy like that.

This Maxi Skirt was on sale for $19.95. The print was a bit too reminiscent of stuff I used to wear in high school. It was a bit too dowdy but comfortable. I'm wearing a size 0 which still felt loose and I am usually a size 2/4.

I have to make some returns tomorrow so I will remember to bring my camera in case anything else catches my eye!
