Zara Floral Printed Dress (size M)
Sadness. Oh Zara online site - how you make everything look so modern and fun and fashionable. D*mn you. First the good: the print is absolutely lovely and very subtle. The white is more of an off-white which is good for the skin tone. The idea is there but the execution is so so bad. At least on my body. As you can see it is t-i-g-h-t on top and the neckline wouldn't really lay flat. The waist was very fitted but then there was at least an extra inch of material on both sides of my hips. This wouldn't matter with a more flowy fabric but with a stretch cotton it just stuck out.
I don't even think a more straight figure would look great in this because of the aforementioned hip bubble problem.
Size Small
I thought the size small might be a little better in the hips and it was but they were still sticking out. Plus now we are verging on the obscene with the top. Bonjour underwear, thanks for making an appearance in my classy cocktail dress. I'm so so sad about this one but clearly it ain't gonna work!
I did put in an order for a few of there flowy tops which I can get to work for me sometimes. Now I am always careful to check the material first - if it's polyester I just say no but now they are making many of their tops out of viscose which I find more palatable. Plus some are actually out of cotton! Woo woo!
Anyone else have some luck with Zara this spring?
well you just saved me a whack of cash - I had this wishlisted and now it can go by the wayside! Too bad - what a lovely, affordable print!
ReplyDeleteI know! Such a bummer, as Zara often is.
Deletewhat a sad fail. I have mixed feelings about Zara, something's almost always off for me.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree. I'm so drawn in by the prints but the quality and fit are never quite right.
DeleteWell, you are not the only one who got sucked in by the product shots on the website. I ordered this dress last week and it was an epic fail. The medium fit okay in the hips, but the bust was ridiculously tight and I'm not exactly well-endowed. I need remind myself that the models are a size 00 with no chest before ordering anything from Zara. Too bad - the print was really pretty.
ReplyDeleteGlad it wasn't just me! The prints! They are so amazing. But I don't think I'll try a fitted dress on again any time soon.... whew.
DeleteTruly its wonderful dress...I also love that beautiful Arrangement of Flowers on clothing!!
ReplyDeleteI bought the small and have the same problem, fitted well on the top but I've had to get it altered on the hips, waiting till I get it back but I can predict it will spoil the flower detail!
ReplyDeleteShame!
The zara website is awful and the models don't do their clothes justice, can't rely on zara sizes, you must try on.
I think its meant for a pear-shaped, curvy person, because the Sm fit me like a glove. I'm a bit short so I did have to hem it, but I hem everything.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that zara is a crapshoot when it comes to fitting. I usually don't mind since most of their stuff is flowy and forgiving.
Would you sell this dress to me?
ReplyDeleteI know I'm super late to the party but here are my two cents. If it didn't fit, it's because of the style. I bought this dress and those hip bubbles that you detest were gold for me. This was the dress that taught me what I need to look for in a dress for my shape. I always fall in love with the straight styles and they are always a disappointment when I try them on because they never fit. Too tight in the hips and butt. However, this coke bottle shape to this dress is what works for me. So basically, if your hip measurements are bigger than your bust, this style works for you. If your bust and hip measurements are pretty close in numbers, this dress won't work for you. Not for a straighter figure gal, more for a small bust, curvy bottom gal, like me :)
